I ended up coming here because of the great Google reviews, and was looking to have a nice dinner and splurge a bit. Unfortunately, I was disappointed. I will start by saying the atmosphere and service were great, and the idea of the place is awesome. However, it was just poorly executed and not at all worth what they were charging. If you come from a western country, you will likely not be impressed with this restaurant as gastronomy in western countries is at a different level. I found all of the flavours to be one-dimensional. On top of this, I ordered an appetizer tuna and avocado salad, and the tuna had a lot of tough, sinewy bits in it that we couldn't chew through. I've never had tuna like that (traveled throughout Japan + I'm from Vancouver). So I'm presuming the chef/cook was inexperienced with sashimi, or it was low quality tuna/scraps? But we were in Kanazawa of all places! The land of seafood. You would think the chef would know how to prepare sashimi.

Brilliant food and experience. Cannot recommend highly enough - case in point, we booked another night while we were still dining for the first time. Food is unique, innovative and delicious. Staff are brilliant and passionate about what they do. A real highlight of Kanazawa and my favourite restaurant experience in Japan after three visits. Go!

Incredible food. It hosts a fusion of Western and Japanese food. The wasabi and salmon starter is a must try. I would highly recommend you engage with the chefs and ask for their recommendations as well. It is also highly suggested to make bookings as this place is normally very crowded and highly sought after.

Been here many times. Everything about Plat Home, from the owner to his staff, to the ambience, and especially to the unique menu on offer, is perfect. Kanazawa is a famous food city, so the fact that Plat Home stands out from other izakaya is all you need to know.

Wow this place was well worth a visit.The staff and atmosphere are amazing.The food was all delicious.The standouts for me were the tuna, seaweed and avocado and the sashimi plate.The tuna fish was melt in your mouth sashimi.I've had tuna sashimi in so many nice restaurants and this was top notch.Not sure what one other reviewer said as what I had was amazing.Will definitely visit again when I can.

Ridiculously good. The atmosphere and food is some of the best ive had ever (anywhere). The chefs are lovely and will take the time to talk to you if youre lucky enough to sit at the bar table, and their take on classic japanese dishes is amazing. A must if you are visiting or living in kanazawa! A good idea to book ahead because it was packed and does not seat many people

Sugoi! Everything was really creative and delicious while embracing Japanese food with a modern twist. The staff was really cool. The chef/ owner was awesome and explained everything really well. I thoroughly enjoyed my last night dinner in Japan .

What a fantastic restaurant. The best meal we had in our trip to Japan. Extremely friendly staff who were happy to explain all the dishes to us. We were lucky enough to get seated at the bar so we could see the chefs in action.

Absolutely fantastic, a must-go in Kanazawa. A welcoming English-speaking staff with English language menu available. With modern takes on Japanese food, it takes the izakaya culture and the creativity of a gastropub and melds them into a delicious whole. If they're on the menu that day, I highly recommend the wild boar with tomato miso sauce, fried chicken, and seared yellowtail. Even simple dishes like the fried eggplant were just done perfectly.

Place is good, no doubts in service. My only problem was we went a bit late, and there was a bit noisy person(probably an important higher up aka politician) drunk and he dropped the average ambiance down for the room, due to one bad apple in the basket things can affect other people's lives.

Had an amazing meal at PLAT HOME!!! With English menus and attentive wait staff we were able to order some of the best tasting and unique dishes we enjoyed in Kanazawa. Great chefs who took the time to chat and recommend sake and items from menu. Just wish we could have tried everything on the menu!

Excellent food, excellent quality. Personnel very nice fluent in english. I recommend especially the Zucchini Tempura, and, as a french, the cheeses. Sometimes, the waiting for dishes is a bit long.

Yummy fresh food. Modern Izakaya. Plenty of raw fish. Couples will be seated at the high chairs at the counter. Make reservations if you have three or more in your party. Only one option for dessert. Try the Grilled Nodoguro with sweet miso. Scrumptious local Kanazawa fish done differently from the usual.

First off the food and the chefs and staff here are amazing. Catered for non Japanese speakers and we're truly welcoming and created a great experience! The food is beautiful and is one of the best and reasonably affordable meals I've had in Japan.Went here for a dinner on a Thursday night without a reservation and luckily got one of the last seats at the bar - you get to watch and chat to the 2 great young chefs while they work on creating beautiful plates of food right in front of you.We had the grilled pork marinated in saikyo miso (incredible) and also the wagyu beef (150g for 2,600 yen) which is brilliantly priced for an intro to Japanese beef, also the French fries as a side which were beyond good as they came with truffle oil all over them - heaven!Can't recommend this place enough, but you may have to book because we got very lucky. A great modern take on Japanese food!

It's wonderful. Every dish is a flavor experience. The filefish was amazing. Soooo good. The Table Salad set new expectations for what a salad could be. A must- dine- at place. Reserve far in advance, or you won't get in!

Excellent modern Japanese food and drinks, cozy atmosphere, friendly service! Very reasonably priced too (10000 yen for dinner for two, including a couple of drinks and desert each). Really lovely dishes too. Can’t recommend highly enough. Definitely book ahead, we booked via email. English menu and English speaking staff, if that’s important for you!

Excellent food in a very cosy setting. Chefs were super friendly and spoke good English. We were even treated to a dish which the chef dreamt up on the spot as we were trying to decide on the last one. A definite highlight of the trip and not expensive.

If you're not afraid to spend a little bit of money, this is quite an amazing place.Very fresh and tasty food prepared in front of you by a very nice and efficient team.Everything is tasty, from potato salad to amazing sashimi, chicken, soups, plenty of seafood. The setting is very modern and cozy, a bit of fresh air in "old" Kanazawa traditions.Definitely worth a visit.

This is probably one of the best places to come and have an amazing Japanese dinner! Chef Okagawa was incredibly inspiring in how he makes in every dish magic! From beginning to end every second is an unforgettable experience! I highly recommend this place and I hope one day they can receive Michelin Stars for this wonderful place! Congrats to all! Kanazawa is so lucky to have you in town! Amazing ceramics selection!!!!

A truly fabulous restaurant. Very modern and every dish is a delight, as is the service. Wonderful atmosphere as well. My favorite restaurant in a three week tour of Japan, but far from the most expensive.

Best meal we had in Japan over 3 weeks. Beautiful meal with amazing wine at a reasonable price. Such a nice chance to have a modern Japanese meal. Duck loin and Okinawa pork were the highlight. Come here if you are from Syd/Melb, trust me.

Simply put, outstanding. Over two weeks, and much travelling around Japan, we have had so much great food, but the skill and passion shown by Ponta the chef was a joy to watch. The best seat in the house is at the bar, watching the artist at work. It's not the cheapest place to eat in Kanazawa, but you get what you pay for, with a warm and friendly atmosphere to boot. If you're lucky the chef may throw in some extra treats for you to try as they flow delicately out of the kitchen. Be warned, you won't know when to stop ordering. Oishī!!

The food is delicious and the service was excellent. They were very accommodating to my friends' dietary requirements and provided us with a series of small, yet delicious tasting plates. This place is wonderful and I would highly recommend stopping by if you're in Kanazawa.

Fantastic cosy environment to enjoy well prepared fresh food. It reminds me of small 'trendy' alleyway places in Melbourne. They even accommodated our overtired kids. Limited vegetarian choices (and a small menu overall) but everything is fantastic. Only has 3 tables, a 'private' room and the bar so call ahead unless you feel lucky.

Delicious food and a wonderful cosy atmosphere. It’s only a small restaurant but it’s laid out in a very modern and stylish design. The staff are very friendly and welcoming and there is an English menu. It was great to sit at the bar and watch the two chefs carefully prepare each dish. The care and attention that went into all the food was amazing. You order a number of small dishes (like tapas) to share each costs 700 to 1000 yen. They all come at different times. The use of fresh ingredients is wonderful. The yellow fin tuna was superb as was the miso aubergine. I would highly recommend a visit to Plat Home.

I agree with the reviews on trip advisor. Everything here we tried is super delicious. Sake, salad, sashimi, appetizers, and wagyu. The place is easy to find and the people are super friendly. A must try restaurant if you are in the area. We love this place!

The best meal we had in Kanazawa! We were two people and ordered 7-8 dishes and left full and happy! The chefs were attentive and very friendly, and after the dinner was consumed we had an interesting conversation. Both fish and meat dishes were delicious! Good value for money. Expect to spend around 10 000 yen for a full dinner and drinks for two people leaving stuffed and satisfied.

Magical. Wish I could give this place a 6th star - it was really that good. Book in advance as it does get busy and trust the recommendations. It was the best meal of the entire trip and is worth the trip to Kanazawa alone.

Delicious locally sourced food in a wonderful, cosy environment! Everything we ate was delicious and fairly priced for the quality and quantity of food! Couldn't recommend more highly!

Great dishes. They change everyday according to today catch. Staff was friendly, helpful and well English speaking.Just that in account that what you wearing will smell like you worked yourself in the kitchen. But it is worth it.

Japanese fusion food which is absolutely delicious. Had the sashimi, wagyu beef and fried chicken and it was amazing. Delicious. Chefs and staff are lovely too. Sit at the counter and get their recommendations, you won’t regret it. Try the cherry beer too. Get here!
